Chattanooga Holiday Events & Activities at the Choo Choo Hotel
Choo Choo Hotel Christmas Tree Lighting | November 16th - January 21st
Even before Thanksgiving (gasp!) the Choo Choo Hotel, surrounding gardens and popular Station Street transform into a wonderland of holiday lights, green boughs, red ribbons, and a giant Christmas tree. The Christmas tree in the hotel foyer at the Chattanooga Choo Choo Hotel is famed for being the biggest one in all of Hamilton County! The best part? You do not have to be a hotel guest to see the tree; everyone is welcome to come by the Choo Choo lobby and take pictures. While you’re there, stop in at Frothy Monkey or Stir for a hot chocolate, mocha or hot toddy.
Santa at the Choo Choo | November 16th - December 23rd
Unlike the tree, Santa and Mrs. Claus only come down from the North Pole at scheduled times to visit with the good boys and girls. But when they do, what fun! Every Friday through Saturday from November 16th through Christmas Eve, Santa will be in the Choo Choo lobby for pictures and to take gift requests.
Mrs. Claus Book Readings at the Choo Choo | November 23rd - December 21st
Mrs. Claus joins the children to read books Fridays at 7 p.m. and Saturdays at 3 p.m. from November 23rd through December 21st. Kids love to listen as Mrs. Claus tells classic Christmas tales throughout the holiday months, building Christmas spirit in all ages.
Lookout Farmer’s Market | November 1st - January 18th
Enjoy delicious goods, treats, and special gifts at the Lookout Farmer’s Market on Station Street. The market will open on Thursday, November 1st, then every Friday evening from November 16th thru January 18th.

Ice on the Landing | November 16th - January 21st
Another fan favorite is Ice on the Landing. This brings the classic winter tradition of outdoor ice skating to downtown Chattanooga from November 16th to January 21st. Visitors of all ages can take a turn on the rink, located in the historic Glenn Miller Outdoor Gardens. Vendors will be set up to supply sweet treats and hot cocoa. Mainx24 | Saturday, December 1st
One of Chattanooga’s best-kept holiday secrets is Mainx24. For a full 24-hour period, the community comes together to celebrate up and down Main Street, right next to our historic Chattanooga hotel. With vibrant parades, live music, poetry readings and chili cook-offs, this December 1st party will surely warm you up! Just be sure to arrive early to grab a great view of all of the fun. Admission to Mainx24 is free.

Enjoy local food, beverages, live music, and more at Holiday Cheer at the Pier at Ross’s Landing. Plenty of children’s activities will be available throughout the evening, including photos with Santa Claus himself! A lighted boat parade will fill the air with Christmas cheer along the Tennessee River, ending with a finale Fireworks show! Holiday Cheer at the Pier will take place Friday, November 23rd from 4 p.m to 9 p.m. The event is free for everyone to attend.

The Kids Only Holiday Shoppe at the Creative Discovery Museum shelves affordable gifts and items to help children understand the concept of budgeting and the cheer of gift giving. The Holiday Lights at the Chattanooga Zoo is a great family-friendly Christmas event in Chattanooga, where the zoo is adorned in Christmas lights.
